Tenby is a walled harbour town in the south-west of Wales, with Saundersfoot a few miles north along the bay and St Davids — the smallest city in Britain — out on the far western peninsula. The coast path links most of it. Walks, dinner or a harbour evening can be included and stay secondary. Any hotel, guesthouse or cottage is your own booking; I have no access to private homes or properties of any kind.
Out of Season Is the Point
In August Tenby is full of families and the harbour is loud until late. In February the same streets are almost entirely yours, the tide comes in under a black sky, and the whole town has three lit windows.
I prefer the second version and so, generally, do the people who write to me.
Further west the land narrows and empties towards St Davids, which is a cathedral, a few streets and an enormous amount of weather.
Along This Coast
Tenby itself is the usual base: walled town, harbour, and hotels along the seafront. Saundersfoot is quieter, a few miles north around the bay.
St Davids and the western peninsula are a different kind of remote again, roughly an hour's drive away. Tell me where you are and I will plan around the distances.
Women and Couples by the Sea
Women come here for two or three nights out of season, and what is usually wanted is company with no schedule attached to it.
Couples choose Pembrokeshire because it is genuinely far from everywhere. Write together, say what you are both hoping the weekend feels like, and tell me anything I should understand for you both to be comfortable.
Privacy
Discretion in a Small Harbour Town
Small Welsh coastal towns run on familiarity, so I keep everything low-key. Your enquiry comes to me alone, I answer on the channel you chose, and I ask only what the weekend needs to work. No unnecessary personal detail, no questions you would rather not answer. If a couple is writing, I would like you both involved from the first message and any boundaries settled before dates. Afterwards there is nothing to repeat and nobody to repeat it to.
