The valley runs through the southern interior of British Columbia along Okanagan Lake, taking in Kelowna, the Naramata Bench, Penticton, Summerland, Oliver and Osoyoos, with a dry climate and vineyards along the slopes. A tasting, dinner or time on the lake can be included and remain secondary. Access to any resort, rental or winery depends entirely on your own booking and that property's rules — I hold no partnership, tasting access or privileges with any producer in the valley.
Heat, Water and Distance
The Okanagan is the driest, warmest corner of the province and behaves nothing like the coast. The light is hard, the hills are bare above the vines, and the lake holds the heat long into the evening.
Properties here are spread along the slopes with space between them. There is very little chance of being observed and very little interest in observing.
It is a place built for slow days, which makes the nights a good deal longer than they are anywhere with a schedule.
The Shape of a Valley Stay
Summer is the obvious season: the lake, the heat, the terraces. It is also the busiest, and everything books early.
Autumn is harvest, which quietens the tourists and fills the wineries with work. The light is better and the evenings cool properly.
Winter empties the valley almost completely, which some people choose on purpose.
Couples in Wine Country
Couples write from here more than from most places in the province, usually from a rented house with a view of the water and a weekend with nothing else in it.
I would like to hear from both of you beforehand — what you imagine, what you have already agreed, and what either of you would rather leave out.
A tasting in the afternoon is a pleasant way to start a day. It is not the reason anyone writes to me.
Privacy
Distance as Discretion
The valley is spread out, and that spacing is most of the privacy. I keep the arrangement to the people involved, request only what the plan requires, and never name a property, a town or a person. Where a couple is enquiring I would like to hear that you are both comfortable, and anything either of you would rather avoid is settled before dates are confirmed.

- That depends on your booking and the property's own visitor rules. I have no arrangement with any property in the valley.

- Yes, frequently. I would like to hear from both of you before anything is confirmed.
- How far is the valley from Vancouver?
- Around four hours by road through the mountains, or a short flight to Kelowna. The drive is worth planning for.
- Which season is best?
- Summer for the lake, autumn for harvest light and fewer visitors. Winter is very quiet indeed.
- Can a couple arrange private companionship with you here?
- Yes. I meet couples when the idea feels right for both people. Before anything is arranged I want to understand what you are each hoping for, where your boundaries sit and what would make both of you comfortable. I am never there to compete with the relationship. Nothing about Okanagan Valley changes that part of how I work.

- Discretion is assumed rather than requested. I keep correspondence to your preferred method, ask for no unnecessary personal detail, and treat whatever you tell me about your limits as settled. That is true in Okanagan Valley as it is anywhere else I meet people.
