Beyond it the province scatters: a ski village in the Coast Mountains, an island capital with old stone and a harbour, a dry valley of lakes and vineyards, and a coastline that spends every winter being hit by the open Pacific.
They look nothing alike. They ask for the same thing — time that nobody else has a claim on.

An island capital that keeps colonial manners and island hours. Everything closes early, which is rarely a disadvantage.

Dry hills, a long lake, vines running down to the water, and heat that does not properly leave until well after dark.
Tofino
The end of the road on the open Pacific. Rain sideways, old forest behind you, and nothing between the window and the weather.
Women and Couples in British Columbia
Women write from downtown hotel rooms with the harbour below them, from a chalet after the lifts have closed, from a rented house where the rain has not stopped in three days. The request is consistent: unhurried hours with no explanation attached.
Couples write too, usually having already discussed it at length. I would rather hear from both of you before anything is agreed, and anything either of you would rather avoid is settled beforehand.

- None. Access to any resort, lodge or producer depends entirely on your own booking, and I hold no memberships, privileges or partnerships anywhere.

- Quietly. Correspondence stays on your chosen channel, nothing unnecessary is requested, and I make no claims about anonymity technology.
