The Alentejo is Portugal's large inland region south-east of Lisbon, with Évora as its historic city and herdades and small hotels spread near Estremoz, Arraiolos, Monsaraz and Alqueva. Wine estates and cultural visits are optional and guest-arranged. Distances are long and any meeting depends on the property’s rules.
Space, and What It Does
The Alentejo is mostly emptiness, and people either find that unnerving or find it exactly what they were looking for. The ones who write to me are the second kind.
Private time here tends to run longer than elsewhere. There is nowhere to be, nothing scheduled, and the evening simply extends until someone notices the hour.
Évora, Estremoz, Monsaraz and Alqueva
Évora is the region's historic walled city and the usual anchor for a stay, with hotels inside and just outside the walls. Estremoz and Arraiolos lie north, marble and textile towns respectively, both small.
Monsaraz is a hilltop village above the Alqueva reservoir in the east — dark skies, very little light, and a handful of quiet places to stay. Herdades and estates sit across the whole plain, often down long private tracks.
Couples and Women
Couples dominate the enquiries here, usually for several nights on an estate, and usually after a long and careful conversation between themselves first.
Women write for themselves for the same reason anyone comes to the Alentejo: distance, silence, and hours nobody else has a claim on. Boundaries are settled first in both cases.
Privacy
Isolated, and Still Careful
Out here properties are isolated and staff are few, which is an advantage only if nothing about the arrangement is careless. Your enquiry comes to me directly and is answered only on the channel you chose. I ask for the estate, the dates and the atmosphere you want. House and hotel rules are followed exactly, couples can agree in advance what each wants understood, and I make no claim of anonymity, encryption or deletion.

- Can I arrange private companionship in the Alentejo or Évora?
- Sometimes, with good notice. The region is large and the drives are long, so dates and location decide it.
- Do you meet women and couples here?
- Both, with couples on multi-night estate stays being the most common.
- Can both partners agree boundaries beforehand?
- Yes. What each of you wants understood is settled before any date is confirmed.
- Do you arrange estate or wine visits?
- No. Those are yours to book and remain optional; I hold no access to or arrangement with any estate.
- How long should a stay be?
- Two nights or more. The distances make a single night mostly driving.
- Is a car necessary?
- Practically, yes. Herdades are often well off the main roads and public transport out here is thin.
- Does the estate or hotel decide what is possible?
- Yes. Arrangements depend on the property’s visitor policies and access requirements.
- Can a couple arrange private companionship with you here?
- Yes, couples are welcome. What matters to me is that this is something you chose together. I would rather spend time understanding both perspectives first than arrive with assumptions about either of you. If you are writing from The Alentejo & Évora or arriving there, the process is identical.
- Is the experience mainly private time together?
- Yes. Most of what I arrange is quiet, one-to-one time away from public settings. Anything public is something you choose to add rather than something built into the arrangement. In The Alentejo & Évora this is usually settled in a short private exchange before anything is confirmed.
