A Bay With Two Characters

Puerto Vallarta is a real town that happens to be beautiful — cobblestone streets climbing from the sea, a church tower over the malecón, neighbourhoods with names and lives of their own.

The Romantic Zone, south of the river, is the old quarter of galleries, restaurants and small hotels. The hotel zone and Marina Vallarta stretch north from the centre.

Across the bay's northern point, Punta Mita is the opposite proposition: a gated peninsula of large resorts and golf fairways, quiet by design.

The Sierra Madre comes down to the sea all around the bay, and evenings arrive green and warm with the mountains going dark behind the town lights.

The hours are the arrangement. Inside your own reservation, unhurried, with the bay somewhere beyond the balcony.

Vallarta has understood unhurried pleasure for sixty years; what I arrange fits the town's oldest instinct rather than its loudest one.

Dinner in the Romantic Zone or a walk along the malecón after dark can sit around the private hours. Optional, and your booking.

Where You Are Staying

The Romantic Zone and the old town suit anyone who wants the real Vallarta — walkable, characterful, full of small hotels and apartments.

The hotel zone and Marina Vallarta suit contained resort stays. Punta Mita, an hour around the bay, is gated and formal about visitors.

Tell me which you are in. The bay is large, and the logistics differ end to end.

Boundaries, Stated Plainly

No hotel, resort, restaurant or bar affiliation anywhere on the bay. No marina, boat, yacht, fishing or sailing privileges. No golf-club access. No tour arrangements.

The bay's nightlife, including its well-known gay scene, is the town's own — it is not what I arrange, and I do not position this service within it.
